PROCESS
This is our process for Tax Resolution Services. We are authorized to represent you before the IRS, the States, or any other U.S. taxing agency (referred to here as ‘Agency’).
There are 3 methods we use for tax resolution:
- Virtual Resolution
- Hybrid Resolution
- In Person Resolution
Virtual Resolution – This is our most popular option. After signing the engagement letter and paying our engagement and review fee, we send you a link to our secure portal to set up an account for encrypted transmission of your documents and data. After verifying your identity, we obtain legal IRS and or State/other (agency) Power of Attorney, contact the taxing agency and obtain all necessary documents and information, and conduct a professional assessment of your situation that includes all your options to satisfy, minimize, or in some cases, eliminate your tax debt. Your case is handled by a qualified tax resolution specialist.
Hybrid Resolution – Much like our virtual procedure however some clients prefer not to upload documents electronically. We can exchange documents by mail or other secure means.
In Person Resolution – Persons who live in the Cincinnati area may prefer to meet face to face. This process is then much the same as the above process.
Regardless of the method you choose, the process proceeds as follows:
- You present any known taxing agency letters or documentation.
- We verify your identity and secure the engagement and review fee* and the engagement letter.
- We obtain from you a properly executed taxing agency Power of Attorney.
- We contact the taxing agency and obtain all information and documentation regarding your situation.
- We conduct a thorough compliance check to determine any and all issues that must be resolved.
- We then produce for you a review of all your options and the best means of resolution and the cost to proceed. We make recommendations for you to consider and help you make the wisest decisions on seeing your way out.
- We complete any and all returns, offers in compromise, penalty abatements, etc. as necessary.
- We guide you through the entire process until final resolution.
*The engagement and review fee is for the first steps in competing your resolution. While many firms charge a ‘one size fits all fee’ we review each case and charge an appropriate fee for the work that must be done. Some companies charge based on the amount owed. While this might seem reasonable it often results in the client overpaying for the service. Beware of companies that advertise ‘If you owe X dollars or more…’ service. Many of these companies are looking for persons who are in dire need and will pay exorbitant fees.
What Is Tax Resolution?
Tax resolution is a process in which a taxpayer resolves past debt, compliance issues, or audits with the IRS. The goal is to minimize what you owe to the IRS as much as possible.
Tax resolution is usually needed when someone owes the IRS back tax and has been unable to pay. It often stems from unfiled tax returns, IRS compliance (such as levies, liens, or garnishments) or sometimes legal issues.
Our experience is that tax issues often start with a simple issue that grows into an unresolved debt or compliance. At some point the taxpayer realizes the situation must be addressed and contacts a professional, such as an EA (Enrolled Agent).
